There is lots of information buried in the Canada Census data. This chart shows that as the population of the Greater Vancouver area has steadily increased, so has the number of dwellings. That’s not surprising.
But what is interesting is that the number of “usually unoccupied” dwellings seems to have made a jump sometime between 2001 and 2006 – although it has remained relatively stable in the 10 years since then.
